Advocates provide education about the dynamics of sexual assault, and assist with understanding responses to trauma. Advocates work to empower survivors to meet their goals.

We are available 24/7 to coordinate a Sexual Assault Nurse Exam (SANE) and to provide in-person advocacy. TAACC hosts a confidential SANE suite located in Caro to provide the Thumb with a non-emergency room access point for services. TAACC staff can respond to Thumb Area hospitals to provide in-person support to sexual assault survivors.

Non-residential services help navigate the lasting effects survivors endure whether involved in an abusive relationship or recovering from previous sexual assault. Services include survivor support, safety planning, legal assistance, housing resources, and access to a support group.

A safety plan is an essential tool to help prepare survivors for any circumstance where they may encounter their abuser or while they are out in the community. Advocates are available to work with survivors on their uniqueness of their situation.

Advocates listen to survivors to understand their legal needs and offer appropriate referrals to community service providers. Upon request, legal accompaniment may be provided.

Advocates will provide referrals to community resources for housing. Assistance with locating and securing safe and affordable housing.

Support group for survivors of sexual assault is available.
